This is a long overdue post. Should’ve made this post last year the first time I tried it on. Whatevs!
I’ve come to know this product because of an ad in instagram and I’m like: the colours are pretty~ I want one! uwu
Anyhoo! After customizing the “formula” for my shampoo and conditioner—I was about to check-out—I realized that it was hella freaking expensive. No way Josè Imma spend $70++ for a hair product I’ve no guarantee if it really works or not! But few weeks later, I checked out what was in my cart.
What changed my mind? Well, I was getting tired of the same scent of my old shampoo and conditioner. I was craving for something different. I saw that the summer special scent for Function of Beauty was Milk Shea(k) (milk shake giddit?). I was into vanilla back then—I really liked Bath and Bodywork’s Vanilla Bean triple tick candle. So I was like: I want my hair to smell like that too.
A month later, my personalized hair product came in. The scent was not that strong and I was relieved that it actually smelt good! I tried it right away—First wash nothing special or magical happened to my hair. After a few wash though, I noticed that my dandruff was getting worse. Hold up! I did personalized the shampoo and conditioner to address the issue of my dry scalp problems. Why is it making it worse?
A month or two of using it (or maybe a month), I tried applying the conditioner on my scalp and oh my lord—it has cooling effect that I didn’t know of. Okay, lemme explain. I don’t usually apply conditioner on my scalp because it made my hair oilier. And I read somewhere that if your hair gets oily more often than normal, you should not applying conditioner onto your scalp—just on the shafts/ends of your hair. I was applying conditioner first before shampoo because I read somewhere in the internet too that it’ll benefit the hair more. So that’s what I did with this new product I ordered in Function of Beauty: conditioner first (not applying it on my scalp) then shampoo!
I shouldn’t’ve ignored the instruction that came with it. It clearly said to apply the conditioner onto the scalp towards the ends of the hair. Clearly, I’ve been doing it wrong all along. Back then, I read some reviews on the internet too that says it didn’t worked for them and they just spent money for nothing. I thought the same thing happened to me. But by the hair god’s mercy—it actually made my hair softer and it didn’t flatten my hair, it gave my hair more volume, (my hair’s usually flat after I wash it with my old shampoo) and most importantly, it got rid of my flakes/dandruff right away.
Bottom-line is: I LOVE IT
I have no issues with the products’s package, love the colour! I LOVE the stickers. If the bottles are empty—which is gonna be soon—I will just fill it with shower gel, maybe? Anyways, I told myself that this will be the last time I’m going to purchase a customizable hair product as it is expensive. But then, (yes BUT THEN), they just released lavender scent for spring special and I’m a sucker for lavender. Since the 16oz took a long time for me to finish (there’s still a lot in the bottle), I said that I’ll just order the small ones which will be cheaper. It was supposedly just the 8oz shampoo and conditioner bottle but for some reason, I decided to get the serum too. I almost added the hair mask. And since it’s lavender, I decided to pick both lavender colours for shampoo and conditioner. I am soooo excited to try my new ones.
That’s my mini review for today lol. Bye for now~
