Chasing the Sun

I had my hair done last Tuesday (May 19th) in the morning. Prior to my appointment though, I had to go to the college to submit our evaluation from our senior practicum. I had to wake up “early” so that I’d have enough time to go in the college since I have to drive for 50mins. It turned out though, that I left home 10mins before 8 and had to ran in drive-thru McD’s to get iced coffee. Too much for saying the night before that I had to wake up early and leave early lol.

When I get in the college 15mins before my hair appointment, the office was closed. The good news is, when I turned around I saw the chairperson of the program walking down the hall. So I gave her my and my friend’s evaluation. Errand was done. Went to the washroom real quick and head to my hair appointment.

I arrived 5mins after nine lol. I didn’t feel bad because according to their website, their waiting area is close due to Covid-19 safety precautions. When I show the hairstylist what I wanted with my hair, she was like:

She then explained to me that it will be hard to achieve the colour and it will probably take more than one visit to lighten my hair. She estimated how much it’ll cost me and when I agreed to everything, she started the process. My hair lightened a lot, and from warm toned hair it went cool toned. I will post an update after 8 weeks for the final look. Here’s my hair inspiration:

It took around 3 hours for the whole thing to be done. She booked me an appointment after 8 weeks—that’ll be in July 14th—then I bought purple shampoo so my hair won’t turn brassy. The hairstylist was very nice and reminded me of one of our instructors in college lol.

I had a Zoom meeting with our senior practicum advisor and the rest of our class at 02:30 that afternoon. So as soon as I bought my boyfriend’s lava cake from Dominos, I headed back home. I picked him up then we bought ingredients for spaghetti as he was craving for it since last week. When the meeting started, I just found out that our instructor sent an invite with the meeting code and password. I didn’t received it and I was messaging my “friends” but they weren’t replying so I was kinda mad about it.

When we’re done eating spaghetti, I asked my boyfriend if we could go out in the park for a while because the weather was nice. He agreed—though it took a long time for us to go since him and my mom were talking about something. Uhm, they were talking about buying houses too. I wanted to interject into their conversation and say that my mom will cry if they continue to talk about it. I chose to let them talk however.

We got in the park but there were a lot of people there than usual. So we decided to drive around town for a while. Then we went to the small lake—that’s when I told him we should go to Clear Lake instead. We went back to their place to take a rest and we left around 6pm. The drive was an hour long, we checked what time the sunset and according to the weather app, it’s 09:28pm. We arrived at the lake around 7, so we took our time walking around. We went to the spot where we had a swim last summer because it wasn’t crowded before and I think it’s because it’s a private area lol. Anyways, there were people on the spot so we decided to walk a bit further. The thing is, the sun was still up and it was hot—there was no wind. I asked my boyfriend where we’re going and he’s like, “I’m trying to find a shade because it’s too hot.” The thing is, when you look straight on the path we were taking, there was no ‘shady’ place on sight. We turned around (finally), and the people that were on the ‘spot’ (Imma call in it ‘spot’ from now on) were gone. So we sat there by the stone, took off our slippers and dipped our feet on the water. However, the water was still freezing lol. My boyfriend and her sister didn’t took off their feet though. I can’t stand the cold so I put my feet up on the big rock. They proceeded to skip rocks. I’ve never done or tried skipping rocks before so it was really an achievement for me when I successfully done it. The first tries were funny because I was just throwing the rocks onto the water. I could not grasp the idea on how the whole thing works. I just couldn’t. Until I was able to figure it out. My first successful try it was only a small skip(?) then the following ones I was able to make the the rock skip a bit further from where I threw it. SUCCESS IT IS.

When it was close to sunset time, I think it was 5 minutes to 9, we decided to change our spot and go to the place where we went before because we might get a better view of the sunset there. When we get there however, we were wrong. You couldn’t even see the sun from that view lol. So we’re like, let’s just go back—in a hurry because the sun was about to set. Suddenly, my boyfriend chose to take an unfamiliar path because according to him it looked like a shortcut. I was having a mini anxiety attack because it felt like by the time we got to our destination, the sun had already set.

Well, good thing the sun didn’t set yet when we found a spot to park the car and walked towards the big rocks. It felt nice to watch the sunset and the lake water was calm and everything was quiet. It was the first time for me to watch sunset with the love of my life (cheesy I know), and there’s really something special about it. We decided to do this again in the future.

That’s about it. My mini adventure for the day. God I cannot believe it took me a week to finish a single post. I’m too darn lazy.
