Out of boredom, I decided to give my site a visit and at the same time edit some of my posts. So, after quite a while, I clicked the settings button and out of curiosity, I freakin’ decided to change my WordPress URL without really knowing what will happen. So, dumb-me entered a new URL and hit SAVE and when the site loaded, an error page popped up — I was thinking that maybe the URL I’ve entered is not valid or not registered so I hit the back button. It took me back to the previous page: Settings. But then I noticed on the address bar, that the site I am on is not ‘safe’ and the log-in window for the site popped-up, telling me that my session has expired. And when it logged me out, I finally noticed that my URL has changed and I cannot access my site anymore. I keep on hitting the back button hoping that it’ll take me to the last page I was on so I can edit my stupid mistake. Apparently it does not work that way. So I google-d my dilemma and found links on how to fix it.
The problem now is I have no idea what is being said on those sites. I was completely lost. I’m like what is this wp-config.php? Where can I find it? And then after maybe 15mins, I have finally found where it is — or rather where to go to fix it. OMG. I just have to go to my hosting site and find phpMyadmin on the cPanel, find the folders with wp_blabla_option, look for the wrong URL I entered and modify/edit it to the original URL. Voila! Re-loaded my site and it’s back to normal. Gee! Thanks people in the internet!
Lesson learned: DO NOT TRY TO MODIFY URLs ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE NOT FAMILIAR ON HOW TO DO IT. RESEARCH BEFORE DOING ANYTHING.
Lol. Goodnight!
Ciao!
