I cannot believe I neglected this space for almost a year! Well, here I am—back from wherever depths I’ve been.
The last time I updated this blog I was still on my full time position, struggling to balance my work-hobbies-mom-wife life. Here I am coming back and letting every one know—I’ve been working part time since October of last year and it was FANTASTIC. The very first time I went home with the sun still up, I honestly couldn’t believe it! It was such a very nice feeling. I immediately felt my mental health getting better and there’s such a massive burden that got lifted off of me. I felt lighter. Although, to be quite honest, I got worried about my finances.
When I switched to part time, I also changed our daughter’s schedule in her daycare. It’s a private/home daycare so we were paying more than the subsidized daycare. Switching to part time made me discover my favourite type of exercise and that was: spin. Before the year ended last year, I was going to spin class 2-3 times a week. I’d do spin+barre/yoga and pilates. I was finally being active.
After the holidays, I’ve noticed my energy level wasn’t the same; my left eye was twitching; I wasn’t losing weight (water weight) even though I work out more regularly. I was suspicious that maybe I was pregnant but at the same time I was thinking there was no way I got pregnant that easily after I stopped using birth control patch last October (or November). My suspicion heightened when my heart rate went up to 190 while I was on spin class. The weirdest part, our daughter asked me one random night: “Mama, baby?” and I was like “What baby?” she answered: “Baby brother.” We laughed this off, but the day I was supposed to get my period, there was no aunt flo in sight. Usually I’d get spotting 1-2 days before my period but that month (January), I didn’t get it. I delayed buying pregnancy test kit because I was still in denial and was thinking that maybe I was just delayed. Anyway it was a big fat positive on the PT.
Yes, we are expecting baby number 2 this September. We’re pretty excited and this time we are keeping the gender a surprise. We’ll find out once I deliver. Our daughter is aware that she’s going to be a big sister and I want to say that she’s also excited. She keeps saying that she’s not a baby anymore and that she is now a big sister.
And no, it’s not an oopsie either. We were really planning to try beginning of this year. It just happened earlier than expected 🥰
Life will definitely be very different in September 🩵
