We were supposed to have our own graduation ceremony last June but because of Covid, the school decided to cancel it. They rescheduled the ceremony last October—so the June 2020 grads can attend the October 2020 grads. Why are there 2 graduation in a year? It’s because those who took their program in September/Fall were supposed to graduate on summer. And those who took their program on January/Winter were supposed to have their graduation on September or October.
Everyone thought that by fall, everything will go back to normal. Well, technically I thought that’s what gonna happen. However, summer passed and the number of cases (of Covid) are getting higher. When I received an email from school regarding our graduation—I was disappointed but was not surprised anymore.
Instead of the regular 1-2 hours ceremony—they made an event for the graduates to have their names announced, “receive” the diploma and to have pictures taken during one of the most important day of our lives. The whole event was supposed to only last for 20-30mins and graduates will have their own time slot in order to comply with the posted guidelines.
It is the fastest and saddest event I had ever attended. We drove for 45 minutes, we got to the venue and the whole thing/event was done approximately 15 minutes or less. Let’s say there are at least 15 staff that was there to accommodate and guide us to where we were supposed to go. After putting on the graduation gown and cap, we walked straight to the stage. It was not a short distanced walk lol. The lady announced my name—your girl graduated with distinction, hell yah! And I stood by the ‘x’ mark on the floor to get my picture taken with the dean/president of the school (I have a feeling I got his position wrong). The staff who were in-charge of the live-streaming/sounds applauded—I really appreciate their effort LOL. Then I made my way to “exit” the stage—then I tripped. One lady saw it and I think she laughed then she congratulated me LOL.
Then we took our pictures after—they set-up 4 backdrops for the grads and guests for picture taking. One of my instructors was present that day and was asking grads to take their picture with their guests/family. It was really fast paced and sad. Anyway, below are some of the pics we took. I love the maroon grad gown BTW.
