And I finally uploaded it! LOL Funny thing about this trip was: we didn’t know I was already 3-4 weeks pregnant and we hiked and attempted to climb the ridge in Kananaskis Upper Lake trail. Which *spoiler alert* we didn’t due to the bears lurking around at the top of the hill or surrounding area—and we found out that we have to use a rope ladder(?) to climb up in order to get to the ridge. Anyway, I was exhausted and was scared of the bears and my fear of heights made us turn around. What I regret not taking a video of, however, was when people were yelling that there’s a bear somewhere in our path. We thought we already kept our distance so we kind of stopped walking—taking a break—I even thought of grabbing a bag of chips from our backpack. I was in the process of taking out my camera when I looked behind me. In the corner of a trail, probably a few feet away from us, I saw the bear’s head emerging. I immediately tapped my husband’s shoulder and said, “Bear, bear” repeatedly and to keep moving. I so badly wanted to run, but of course, that would make things worse—you’re not supposed to run from a bear. We finally calmed down when we saw people ahead of us, taking pictures and videos. They told us that the bear was following us but not actually chasing (thank God, I guess) us. This experience was the very first (and I hope, last) close encounter we had with a bear. I am glad and thank God we got out of that trail alive—then we thought what would’ve happened if we brought our dog, Bullet, along in our trip and into our hikes? It would probably end up not too good for the three of us (or four, unborn baby included)
To sum it all up, I really enjoyed this trip. Our AirBnB was a fail though, LOL They gave us the wrong room. Other than that, all our destinations were just an hour drive away from where we stayed. Hopefully we’ll be able to visit Canmore again this year.
Ciao!
