So it’s been 2 months since we got engaged. We decided to get a house before we get married because we both wanted to move out of our parents house—to be more independent. Since we’ve decided to buy a house next year—it felt like both of us were just waiting to plan everything next year (+ the wedding).
Honestly, I don’t know what to do first. I lowkey want to plan for the wedding already and I found a venue which is just 45-50 minutes away from here. The other two venue I was looking at are 2 and half away and I don’t think it is convenient especially my friends have small children by then—even though two of my girlfriends had told me it’s fine with them because it’s a once in a lifetime event only.
But then again, we need our own place before we tie the knot because we don’t want to stay in our parents’ house after the wedding. You know what I mean. Anyway, reality just kicked in and I realized how scary this next big step is. Honestly, prior to writing this post—I was wondering what’s holding my fiancé back to applying or getting a pre-approval of mortgage—I was also getting impatient because I really wanted to get married as early as possible LOL. So I asked my friends how—one said that you have to be working for at least 2 years. When I heard this part I was like, “we’re doomed because I just started working last June,” but then again, my fiancé has been working for 3 years now, 4 next year. Anyway, I asked the financial advisor (who’s managing my account in the bank) regarding this matter/applying for pre-approval for mortgage and we’ll see.
Originally, we were planning of buying a land and building a new house because of the prices of the houses for sale in town is not reasonable. I mean, they are expensive ranging from 200,000-400,000 and most of the houses for sale on that price range were not brand new. The thing is, if we’re going to build a new house with the land it’ll cost us around 400,000 and we were both thinking that we don’t want to work our arses off just to pay for expenses and bills.
So right now, I feel like we’re kind of stuck. I just messaged the lady who’s looking after my account in the bank—the financial advisor—asking her about pre-approval. I may end up booking an appointment with her and hopefully she’d be able to help and answer some questions.
Man, adulting sucks! BUT exciting. I cannot wait for the day we get to finally own our place and decorate and buy furnitures. Not that I am great with designing. Hopefully it’ll be soon. This is it for now!
Stay safe everyone!
